June Allison - Director

BA Couns. H.Dip Drama Ed.

June Allison founded ‘Mayo Performance Academy’ in 2011.

June is a highly qualified and experienced Speech and Drama Teacher who holds a range of qualifications which includes a BA in Counselling as well as a postgraduate Higher Diploma in Arts in Drama Education, a teaching qualification via the Leinster School of Music & Drama.

June’s passion and commitment for drama, theatre and the arts began in her early years when she attended Performing Arts School Galway and was immersed in three main disciplines of Performing Arts throughout her youth.

In the years that followed, her interest in children and youth led her to obtain her first teaching Diploma in Montessori Teaching with distinction, as well as qualifications in Child Developmental Psychology.

She went on to work as a successful Counsellor and Mentor with young people and worked as a volunteer for several years with the ISPCC, dealing with youths who had experienced life difficulties.

Her experience in these areas as well as her love of drama, theatre, and the arts, led her to recognise the important influence that Arts and Education together can have on children and young people and this led June to set up the successful ‘Mayo Performance Academy’ bridging the gap between children, young people and drama. Teaching Drama to children over the past thirteen years, Mayo Performance Academy has built a solid and successful reputation.

Through her work, June also prepares her students for a range of examinations accredited by the Examining Board of the Irish Board of Speech and Drama as well as the Leinster School of Music and Drama. She also acts a visiting adjudicator for a select number of other Performing Arts Schools in the region.

June is a proud member of The Speech and Drama Teachers of Ireland and sits on the board for the organisation as their Social Media Manager.

June is also very well known as being the Founder of the very successful and award winning ‘Claremorris Musical Society’ (CMS) in 2006. She continues to be heavily involved with CMS year after year as a committee member as well as taking to the stage for some fun herself!

June has worked to instill and foster a love of drama and theatre to all of her students and she continues to inspire all those who surround her.
